Calendula

Calendula, also known as "pot marigold", is an annual or perennial herb belonging to the Asteraceae family. It is distinguished by its beautiful orange or yellow flowers, which resemble small sunflowers. Calendula flowers and leaves have been used in traditional medicine since ancient times, where they are believed to have anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and skin-soothing properties. They are also used in cooking and cosmetics.

Uses:

• Traditional medicine:

• Used to treat minor wounds and burns as it helps heal them and reduce inflammation.

• Used to relieve irritation and itching of the skin, especially in cases of eczema and psoriasis.

• Used as a gargle to treat sore throats and mouth ulcers.

• Sometimes used to relieve menstrual pain.

• Cosmetic:

• Used in the manufacture of creams, ointments and oils used for skin care.

• Helps moisturize, soften skin and reduce wrinkles.

• Used in the manufacture of soaps, shampoos and hair care products.

• Kitchen:

• The flower petals are sometimes used as a substitute for saffron to add a yellow color to foods.

• Can be added to salads to garnish and add a light flavor
